IC Information:
Name: Last Order
Fandom: To Aru Majutsu no Index
Timeline: Volume 22: Chapter 12 in the Toaru Majutsu no Index light novel, after Accelerator parts from Last Order
Age: 10
Appearance:
[Picture 1] [Picture 2] As a clone, Last Order resembles Misaka Mikoto - that is, a ten-year-old, younger version of the Railgun esper, which means she is younger and shorter than all of the other Misakas, though has the same fair skin, light brown hair, and brown eyes. Unlike the other clones, she also makes a wider range of facial expressions instead of the typical :| faces of the Misaka sisters. She also has one unusual strand of hair (known as an ahoge ... though she always argues that it isn't one) that distinguishes herself from the other sisters.

Abilities:
Like the other Misaka sisters/clones, Last Order has the same abilities that revolve around electricity - however, unlike the original Misaka who's a Level 5 Esper (Ability User), she and the other sisters are only Level 3 espers, which means she has only 126/20000 of the original's capability. She is able to use this ability to pick electric locks among other things, and she can also detect electromagnetic fields and use Hertz unit to measure them. She can also use Radio Noise, which is basically a form of telepathy/telepathic link between the clones, known as the "Misaka Network". Last Order is the administrator and superior of this network, which means she controls this network and can access the other sisters' memories and experiences at will. She can also perfectly control what information flows through the telepathic network, and can consciously select who will receive it.

Furthermore, after Accelerator is shot in the head and received critical brain damage that left him having trouble with communication, his abilities, among other things, he has been connected to the Misaka Network and as such Last Order and the Misaka sisters do his calculations for him so he can use his ability. She's been known to have made a comical use of this ability occasionally; for example, whenever she is arguing with Accelerator, she sometimes resorts to removing his ability to speak in an attempt to force him out of the discussion.

Personality:
"Misaka says Misaka was told that each Misaka's life has its own meaning. That there would always be someone who would shed tears if a Misaka died. That's why Misaka won't die anymore, from now on none of us will die."

Being one of the Misaka sisters, one would expect Last Order to behave in the same way as the other clones - showing little emotion, not easily moved nor easily experiences feelings when subjected to normal situations, but instead, always appear as an elegant and level-headed person. However, being the final clone produced for the Level 6 Shift project, Last Order acts very differently from the others, and instead acts exactly like how she looks - childish, playful and curious.

Just like a young child, she's abounding with energy and seems to approach everything with so much vigor and liveliness, to the point that the amount of energy she shows seems to be either a) really infectious and endearing, or b) manages to wear out some people as they can't keep up with her. She's hyperactive and very excitable, from bouncing around like a kid who's had too much sugar to talking Accelerator's ear off, and her seemingly limitless energy only ever sometimes stops when Accelerator threatens her if she won't stay still (which doesn't even work sometimes). She's childish and is also known to make use of playful tactics to get what she wants - for example, acting cute and forcefully stealing Misaka 10032's goggles, or removing Accelerator's ability to speak to force him out of an argument when she's in the losing side. She's also very honest, sometimes saying things before even thinking about them, and will easily tell anyone who cares to listen about what's on her mind or how she feels.

Last Order is also a very curious child, and one with a bold nature. She's friendly and has a habit of approaching things and/or people without even stopping to think if it is safe for her to do so; this is exactly how she meets Accelerator - even when people were terrified of him, being the strongest esper in the City (and one with a slightly sadistic and psycho nature at that), she easily threw caution to the wind and approaches him without any qualms or second thoughts, even following him to his apartment and sleeping there even after they just met. When she needs help or when she's looking for sources of entertainment, she's quick to find people - sometimes even strangers, to aid her in doing so, which of course sometimes causes trouble and a nuisance to others. As such, it is also this bold nature and curiosity of hers that easily gets her into trouble and makes her an easy target to use as bait for the ones who want to protect her (which is why she's so good at getting kidnapped).

The young esper is also one who easily trusts and sees the good in people; she readily accepts Accelerator after analyzing the memories she has gathered from the Misaka sisters, and forgives and trusts him even when he's killed 10,000 of them. She sees that despite the sadistic person that everyone else seems to see, there is good in him, someone who didn't really want to participate in killing the clones, someone who once smiled and laughed and cried like everyone else but was corrupted by the world and it's evils. It is shown that once Last Order meets people who's truly proven themselves to be reliable and trustworthy, she believes in them and trusts in them wholeheartedly, and that trust of hers is not easily shaken, unlike other people.

Furthermore, having been the last one produced of the Misaka sisters, Last Order has looked into the sisters' memories and this is how she finds out that "each Misaka's life has its own meaning". This perhaps explains why she's so optimistic, why no matter what happens to her -- whether she's kidnapped or has had a virus implanted in her brain -- she so easily gets back up on her feet again and reverts to her cheerful, hyperactive self. She wants to live life and to experience the world in it's fullest, wanting to experience everything a normal child would experience. This is also why she's so easily excitable, and easily looks forward to and marvels at the smallest, sometimes most ordinary of things -- because of her innocence and naivety, as she's still very much like a young child who's still learning the ways of the world. Thus, this childlike naivety of hers is one that Accelerator is so intent on protecting -- he doesn't want her to see a bloodstained world, he doesn't want her to step into the darkness.

However, as she is only a child, she too gets upset and angry, and shows this by giving out temper tantrums or reacting childishly when she doesn't get what she wants. She doesn't hide these feelings like others do, but instead she nags and whines and basically becomes quite annoying, just like how any other child would react when they don't get what they want. She's not one to hide her feelings; when she's happy, she laughs and smiles, when she's sad, she cries, when she's upset, she nags and becomes hard to deal with.

And lastly, though she is small, Last Order is someone who truly cares, loves, and protects her friends, someone who is truly compassionate. In the series, she mostly shows this towards Accelerator, who's entire being she openly accepts and welcomes, even saying to Touma that she doesn't want to strain him anymore and that she wants to be the one to protect him this time. Her actions clearly show how important the Level 5 esper is to her - for example, even when she's deathly ill and is and in a state where she could barely maintain consciousness, she slowly stretched out an arm in Accelerator's direction, "wanting to somehow protect his trampled and bloody form", paying no heed to logic such as whether she could actually reach him or not. And when everyone else cowered in fear when he went into berserk mode, she was the only one who ran towards him, without fear, embracing him and telling him that everything was alright and he shouldn't do this anymore. Even in her small form, even when he's the strongest and can easily kill and destroy anyone, she tries to look out for his well-being, still trying to stop him from engaging in battle (even when he never listens to her) because she doesn't want him to get hurt. And even when she only does this to Accelerator in the series, this somehow shows that when she becomes close to someone and sees them as her friend, she'll also try her best to protect them and care for them no matter how small or weak or frail she is.

History:
Academy City is a a city of several schools and institutions of higher learning that learn side-by-side with the scientists who research on psychic powers and higher technology, the latter being one of the primary reasons for its establishment. Aside from schools however, there are also research facilities that carry out various experiments and studies. One of these experiments was the Level 6 Shift project, an experiment intended to make Accelerator, the strongest level 5 esper in the city, shift into a level 6. In order to do this he had to battle and kill 20,000 versions of Misaka Mikoto, the third strongest esper; however, due to Kamijou Toma interfering, the experiment got cancelled, and the Misaka clones were also able to understand the value of their lives and were sent to be rehabilitated.

Last Order was the final clone produced for the Level 6 Shift project, though not as a part of the 20,000 clones selected to be killed by Accelerator so he could achieve Level 6. She, instead, functions as the command center of the Misaka clones and the administrator of the Misaka Network, making her their superior. Last Order was created as a fail-safe mechanism in case the clones went out of control -- by sending a set amount of brainwave signals to her, the researchers could control the Misaka Network from the outside. Last Order was never meant to leave the incubator; however, a few days after the experiment was cancelled, Amai Ao (the director of the experiment), installs a virus into Last Order after becoming heavily indebted due to investing in the now-failed project. Last Order's reaction to this was to break out of her incubation tank as a self-defense mechanism.

She wandered the streets of Academy City for an entire week with nothing but a ragged piece of blanket, eluding detection of the researchers trying to find her as well as the surveillance of Academy City, before meeting Accelerator; when Accelerator finally acknowledges her presence, she asks him to help her find the researchers of the experiment so she can be put back in her incubator. Though the other doesn't seem to respond to her request, Last Order nevertheless follows Accelerator to his wrecked apartment and spends the night with him in his room, easily warming up to him. The next day, after taking her out to a local family restaurant, Last Order lectures Accelerator on his willingness to help a stranger and tells him he's not a bad guy at heart and is someone who never really wanted the experiment to go forth. As soon as he's about to storm out after hearing what she had said, Last Order collapses due to her weakened state - she says that it was because she's been out of the incubator for so long, but little did she know that it was the virus taking it's toll on her frail state. Accelerator leaves her in the family restaurant, unknowing that Amai Ao was about to abduct her.

While Accelerator is away, Amai Ao takes Last Order outside the now-abandoned Radio Noise research facility and awaits the activation of the virus in her brain. However, his plan is foiled when Accelerator later arrives and, finding out that the virus had started preparing to activate, decides to save Last Order instead of "terminating" her; he uses his vector powers to delete the virus inside Last Order and though he successfully manages to, he gets shot by Ao in the head. Even then, Accelerator protects Last Order from being shot by Ao using his powers, and tells Ao that even though the two of them are scum, they should not involve Last Order. Yoshikawa Kikyou, another researcher involved in the experiment, later arrives to put Last Order into an incubation tank after shooting and killing Ao. On the other hand, due to the shot in his head, Accelerator suffered critical brain damage which had also damaged his computation and language abilities, effectively crippling him - but thanks to the doctor Heaven Canceler who created a choker-style Electrode that connects him to the Misaka Network, he was able to regain his abilities as the sisters would do his calculations for him among other things.

Last Order and Accelerator are soon taken to the hospital, and Last Order still remembers everything that he did for her back then, as she used the Misaka Network to back-up her memory. It is also there where she is able to communicate with the Misaka sisters about how someone had stolen a Remnant of Tree Diagram, a super-computer which had aided the creation of the clones, and the possibility of the experiment restarting because of it. Last Order later asked Accelerator to help the sisters by destroying the Remnant that Musujime Awaki has stolen, which he successfully does so, easily defeating Awaki. They go back to their daily antics and after some time, they are released from the hospital and move in with Yomikawa Aiho and Yoshikawa Kikyou, who become their guardians.

One seemingly normal day, Last Order goes about doing her childish, playful antics again, and she goes off by herself to play (read: annoy) with Misaka 10032; while playing tag with Misaka 10032, she runs into Touma in the underground mall where she thanks him for helping put an end to the Level 6 experiment. Accelerator soon appears to pick up Last Order, but while they are heading home, she scrapes her knees and Accelerator lets her sit in a bench while he went off to a convenience store to buy some band-aids and a disinfectant for her. However, while he is away, Last Order is captured by Kihara Amata (the Commander of the Hound Dog, a Black Ops force) and a virus is put into her body which corrupts the Misaka Network and makes Kazakiri Hyouka (a materialization of the Imaginary Number District) to become a sort of "angel" - all part of Aleister Crowley's plan, who is the founder and leader of Academy City. However, after much battling and fighting and commotion, she is eventually found and saved by Accelerator; and Index (the nun and holder of the 103,000 grimoires), who was looking for the container for which the "angel" Hyouka was created, sees Last Order and is able to cure her and free the shackles controlling Last Order. GROUP, however, an organization that takes care of Academy City and occasionally delves into illegal actions, uses Last Order as a leverage to recruit Accelerator - telling him that joining GROUP would be the best way to protect Last Order.

Last Order, of course, knows nothing about GROUP, and is sent once again to Heaven Canceller's hospital to recover from the virus Kihara implanted in her. Once she's completely recovered, Last Order is released from the hospital by Heaven Canceller; however, since there's no one available to pick Last Order up, Yomikawa has instead sent an already paid taxi to get Last Order and bring her home. Though Last Order sneakily tries to use it to go to an amusement park, Heaven Canceller makes sure that the driver doesn't do that; later though, Last Order leaves the taxi as she wishes to look for Accelerator, soon getting the help of Uiharu, a member of Judgement. Meanwhile, Kakine Teitoku, the second strongest Level 5 esper in the city, attempted to use Last Order as a hostage to help him in confronting Accelerator. After Last Order left Uiharu, Kakine tried to force the latter to reveal Last Order's whereabouts, but Uiharu refused to divulge that information, resulting in her being injured. Thankfully, Accelerator arrives and stops Kakine from kicking and stepping down on Uiharu's face.

A fight soon breaks out and Accelerator goes in a berserk mode when Kakine shoots down Yomikawa, who tries to stop Accelerator from killing anyone. He nearly goes on a rampage when Last Order shows up, running to him and telling him "I found you!" and though Accelerator's black wings almost comes down to hit her, he stops. She holds her arms out to him with acceptance and tells him that "it's alright now" and that he "doesn't have to do something like this anymore". Despite Accelerator's wings continuing to throw blows (but never hurting her), Last Order only watched on and faced the waves of attack coming one after another; because of the trust she has in Accelerator, she doesn't blink, she doesn't even feel the slightest bit of fear. Finally, Accelerator loses his strength and falls into Last Order's open and waiting arms. She welcomes him, and even though she almost collapses under his weight, she holds him tightly and doesn't let go, whispering "what a relief" into his ear softly.

A whole lot of stuff not directly involving Last Order happens! Soon though, an underground battle occurs in Academy City and Accelerator encounters Aiwass, a higher dimensional super-being and Aleister's mentor summoned to the physical plane of existence by Aleister himself. Aiwass then tells the esper that when AIM entities like herself are manifested, Last Order is heavily strained and may die/collapse if left untreated. A fight breaks out between them but Aiwass defeats Accelerator; furthermore, true to her words, the appearance of the supernatural being had put a great strain on the Misaka Network and had damaged Last Order, making her greatly ill. Together, they head to Russia as advised by Aiwass to find a cure for the small girl.

While in Russia, World War III is being fought, and it is also there where Accelerator meets Misaka WORST, who comes from a new stronger line of Misaka clones who have been made in order to kill Last Order, since the "old generation command tower" was no longer needed and that "her existence would be nothing more than a hindrance to all the Misakas who would be deployed from now on". The Misaka WORST clones also feed off the negative energy produced by the other Misaka clones, and has had metal sheets and selectors embedded within her to keep her from receiving signals and being under Last Order's command. She taunts Accelerator, telling him that the only reason Last Order accepted him warmly and forgave him was because the processing human-like emotions of the Misaka sisters were incomplete, and that if it were complete she wouldn't care about him at all and would even hate him. As she attempts to kill Last Order however, Accelerator goes berserk and he breaks her arm, thus defeating her. Meanwhile, Last Order can barely sustain herself and is slowly dying, which causes Accelerator to have a mental breakdown. He ends up having another fight with Touma, who tells him that if he wants to protect Last Order, he should do so with his "chest held high" and that he should be proud that he's protecting her. Touma also uses his Imagine Breaker to stabilize Last Order temporarily.

Eventually, through hints from both Touma and Hyouka Kazakiri, Accelerator has the idea of singing the song that Index had sung to Last Order that cured her, even when it is a magic spell. Along with Misaka WORST's help, he is able to analyze and modify the song, eventually singing it to Last Order. Because espers cannot use magic, it inflicts deep pain upon him but he continues on; Last Order is eventually healed and is awakened, and Accelerator pulls her into a hug and expresses his joy.

Meanwhile, there is a battle happening in the sky that could possibly make everyone on earth die if the powers that were there would be sent down to earth. Black wings again appear on Accelerator's back as he plans to join the battle - these black wings represent his mental unbalance, the killer and the monster within him. However, after an exchange with Last Order, who tells him that she always wanted to be with him and him saying that he wanted to always be with her too, both with a sincerity and heartfelt feelings, his black wings turn into white wings. Last Order is left teary-eyed with her hands stretched out to the sky, as Accelerator departs from her and ascends into the sky, battling with the others.
